MARY A. FONTAINE
Mary A. Fontaine, age 99 of Grand Forks, died on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Valley Senior living on Columbia in Grand Forks, ND.
Mary A. Fontaine, a daughter of Thomas and Mary (Kuzel) Gust, was born on August 13, 1923 at home in Polk County, Minnesota. She was raised and educated near her home northeast of East Grand Forks. On February 25, 1952 she married Ernest J. Fontaine at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Grand Forks. After their marriage they resided in Grand Forks. Mary spent her time raising her children attending their events and activities. Ernest passed away on February 27, 1984. She has continued to make Grand Forks her home.
She enjoyed trips to the area casinos. Mary loved to go out and eat with her family. She also enjoyed riding around the area seeing all the new things going on. She also enjoyed many TV shows. Mary loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, LaRae Fontaine and David Fontaine both of Grand Forks, Sherri (James) Osgood of Charlotte, NC and a daughter-in-law Nancy Fontaine; grandchildren, Brittany (Ryan) Horn, Jared (Sam) Hughes, Chris (Nichole) Fontaine, Mike Fontaine, Matt Fontaine, Cheryleen Blilie and Jamie Blilie; great-grandchildren, Ellie Watson, Noah Horn, Maleah Lee, Aiden Fontaine, Abbie Fontaine, Sophie Fontaine, Cameron Dufner, Zachary Blilie, Jane’ Isherwood and Kia Isherwood; great-great-grandchildren, Rosemary Todd, Willow Todd and Keisyn Fletcher; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ernest; a son, Dale Fontaine; brothers, Henry Gust, Lawrence Gust, Thomas Gust and Leonard Gust; sisters, Mildred Vavrina and Helen Gust.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be Thursday, April 20, 2023 at 12:00 pm at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Grand Forks, ND.
visitation will be one hour before the service in the Church.
Burial will be at Calvary North Cemetery in Grand Forks, ND in the spring.
