Marie Konickson, 84 of Grygla, MN passed away peacefully on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND with her loving family by her side.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a 6:30 PM prayer service on Friday, January 24, 2025 at Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla, MN with Rev. Marilyn Grafstrom officiating. Visitation will also begin at 10:00 AM with the service to Celebrate Marie’s life at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla, MN with Rev. Vicki Saude-Worthington officiating. Burial will follow at Valle Cemetery, rural Grygla, MN.
Marie Berthea Nordby was born May 14, 1940 at home on the family farm in Valle Township, Beltrami County, MN. She was baptized at Valle Lutheran Church and confirmed at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, rural Grygla, MN. She attended Benville Country School, Grygla Elementary School, Goodridge High School and Bemidji State College.
On September 28, 1957, Marie was united in marriage to Rodney Anderson. To this union 6 children were born, Steve, Denise, Scott, Tim, Dayle, and Sherri. They lived in Hatton, ND and moved to Grygla, MN in 1965.
Marie worked at various places in the area including Community Action Leader, Grygla Implement, Grygla School, Northern Pride, editor of the Grygla Eagle and for many years worked at Polaris in Roseau, MN.
On August 18, 2001, Marie was united in marriage to Wayne Konickson with his entire family accepting her, which meant the world to her. They made their home at the Konickson log cabin in Thorhult, MN and eventually moved to Grygla. Through their marriage the couple traveled many miles together, went 4-wheeling, and snowmobiling. Together they made their cabin into a home with their beautiful vegetable and flower gardens.
Marie was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla and active in the church choir. She was a charter member of the Lioness Club and currently a member of the Lions Club. She was a long-time member of the Fourtown-Grygla Sportsman’s Club and the Red Hats. She loved music and sports since her early childhood. Marie attended hundreds of various sports activities of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she was a huge MN Vikings and MN Twins fan.
Survivors include children, Steve Anderson, Denise (Shannon) Ostby, Scott (Gwen) Anderson, Tim (Mary) Anderson, Sherri (Rodney) Hagen; grandchildren, Alex (Amanda), Cory (Allison), Jason (Jenny), Keesha (Nathan), Tabitha (Michael), Tyler (Sarah), Adam (Alex), Greg, Shalin (Tiffany), Geoff (Steph), Justyne, Dayle (Kaitlyn), Cory (Jordan); great-grandchildren, Torii, Emma, Paizley, Jena, Aubree, Tressa, Walker, Caitlyn, Sawyer, Shay, Nolan, Cooper, Finley, Kellen, Ellie, Brynnley, Brody, Stefonia, Joseph, Easton, Greyson, Kendall, Lyrick, Theryn, Keston, Kember, Kutler, Lainey, Edyn Jo, Violet, Oliver; sisters, Ardy Erickson and Carol (Leland) Lee; sisters-in-law, Shirley Nordby and Joy Nordby; brother-in-law, Kenny Njos; special forever sister, Dolly; Wayne’s children, Vicki (Rick) Stokke, Mike (Joy) Konickson, Janelle (Chad) Nelson; grandchildren, Haeli (Zach), Morgan (Ryan), Alaina, Holden (Kelsey), Wyatt, Ellie; great-grandchildren, Grayson, Norah, Emery, Willa; and many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Rodney Anderson and Wayne Konickson; son, Dayle Anderson; great-grandson, Beckett Gast; parents; brothers, Roy and Orvis Nordby; brother-in-law, Jerry Erickson; and many other relatives and friends.
Memorials are suggested to Grace Lutheran Church or Valle Cemetery.
