Leona Eleanor Christianson, age 104, of McIntosh, Minnesota, passed away on March 3, 2025, at Popular Meadows Senior Living, in McIntosh, Mn.
Leona was born on June 15, 1920, in Oklee, Minnesota, to Ferdinand Marsonette and Alma Grimm. She was baptized on July 11,1920. She attended school in Oklee through the 8th grade. In October 1936, she married Herbert Christianson in Oklee, and together they built a life filled with family and community.
From 1976 to 1982, Leona owned and operated the Farmers Club in Oklee before retiring. She was an active member of her community, volunteering for many years at the Oklee Senior Site. She found joy in gardening, quilting, sewing, and hand-embroidering towels. She also loved bingo and playing card games with family and friends.
Leona is survived by her children: Shirley Monaghan of Sun City, Arizona; Marcella Offerdahl of Martinsburg, West Virginia; and Darrell Christianson of Grand Forks, North Dakota. She was a cherished grandmother to Launa Offerdahl Watts (Keithley), Renee Offerdahl Szanca (Mark), David Jensen (Rhonda), Beth Jensen Engen (Chris), Dan Jensen (Krystal), Rob Christianson (Sherry), Randy Christianson, Sandi Christianson Melby (Joe), and Scott Christianson (Kasha). She also leaves behind 17 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Christianson; two sons, Jerome and Vernon; her parents; and all of her siblings.
A memorial service and burial at Oklee Cemetery will be planned for a later date.
Leona’s long life was filled with love, dedication, and kindness. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her.
