Karen Bachmeier of Fertile, MN, passed away, surrounded by her loving family, on August 30, 2024 at the Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center in New Prague, MN, at the age of 63.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Interment will take place at the First English Lutheran Cemetery in Mentor, MN.

Visitation will take place one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN.

Karen Monica Bachmeier was born on January 11, 1961 in Aurora, IL, the daughter of Jacob “Jack” Bachmeier and Antoinette Elizabeth (Belisle) Taylor.

Karen attended school in Grand Forks at Red River High School.

Throughout the years Karen was employed by the Shooting Star Casino, First Care Nursing Home in Fosston, MN, Digi-Key, and most recently at American Crystal Sugar in Crookston as a lab technician.

Karen’s favorite pastimes included socializing, playing cards, dice, and cribbage with friends and family, listening to music, being outside, campfires, going to the casino, but most of all – spending time with her grandchildren. Playing games with them, putting puzzles together, and going to their activities and sporting events were some of her favorite times.

Karen was blessed with and is survived by her children, Robert Bachmeier, Jason Bachmeier (Katie Galland), Christopher Bachmeier, and Sarah Bachmeier; grandchildren, Tanner, Ellie, Emma, James, Nick, Aiden, Natalie, Aubrey, Annabelle, and Barrett; mother, Antoinette Taylor; siblings, Marcus (Connie) Bachmeier, Nathan Bachmeier, Garry Bachmeier, Larry (Calmeta) Bachmeier, Quinn Bachmeier, Justin (Steph) Taylor, and Theresa (Jon) Williams; many other special relatives including, Gwen (Curtis) Kelly, Glen Underdahl, Gail Hoffman, and Genene (Luke) Swenson; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jacob Bachmeier; her grandparents; and Harvey and LouAnn Underdahl, and George Underdahl.
