It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jessica Regina Kauppila, beloved daughter, sister, mother, and friend, who left this world on September 2, 2025, at the age of 43.
Born on October 20, 1981, in Lander, Wyoming, Jessica’s life was a tapestry woven with love, adventure, and an unwavering spirit of community. Jessica lived her early years moving throughout Wyoming, with a brief time spent in West Virginia, Nantucket and North Carolina before settling in Rutland, Vermont, where she graduated high school in 2000. Her journey led her to various places, but she ultimately found her home in Central, Utah, where she raised her children creating lasting memories and deep connections with the community she adored.
Jessica’s life was marked by her dedication to her family and her commitment to her community. As a mother, she embraced her role with passion and pride, raising her three wonderful children: Rylan (18), Ryder (16), and Eriona (13). Her children were her greatest joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them, instilling virtues of kindness, hard work, and the importance of community engagement.
She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene (Gene) Kauppila; her brother, Bryan Kauppila; her twin sister, Erica Kauppila; and her beloved grandparents, John and Dortha Hofeldt, Olaf and Lila Kauppila, along with her uncles Robert (Bob) Kauppila, Don Rabideaux, Aunt: Jan (Hofeldt) Phillips, cousins; Tommy Cross, Crystal (Cross) Walker, Julia Baron.
She leaves behind her children, loving mother Lynda Hofeldt, her sister Lisa (Lane) Patorti, along with her cherished niece and nephews, Seth Ramsey, Boston, Arikka, Beckett, and Byron Patorti, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who will forever hold her memory dear.
Jessica’s professional life was diverse, reflecting her hardworking nature and her love for the hospitality and service industries. She had a special talent for floristry, bringing beauty to the lives of friends and family through her creations for weddings, parties, and events. Her commitment to giving back to her community was evident through her involvement in local church activities, school functions, and various community organizations. She took pride in her work at the local Elk’s club, where her generous spirit and infectious laughter brightened the lives of those around her.
A lover of the outdoors, Jessica found joy in the simplest moments, whether hiking the majestic mountains near her home, camping with family and friends, or walking her dogs to explore nature’s wonders. Her love for the water and beach was matched only by her passion for travel and adventure, often pursuing these interests with her favorite band, Midland, whose concerts she would travel far and wide to attend. An avid sports fan, she proudly cheered for the Minnesota Vikings, never missing a chance to exclaim “Skol!” with enthusiasm.
Jessica’s warm personality and infectious joy made her a cherished member of her community. She saw the good in others and was known for her friendly disposition, animated conversations, and the genuine connections she fostered throughout her life. Her pride in her identity as a mother, daughter, sister, and friend was palpable, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A celebration of her life will be held on October 11, 2025, at 1:00 PM for visiting hours with the service immediately after at 2:00 PM at . in Thief River Falls, Minnesota with Reverend Stephanie White officiating. Burial will be held at the Finnish Cemetery in Plummer, Minnesota.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that friends and loved ones consider planting a flower or tree in Jessica’s memory, a testament to her love for nature and life.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to all those who supported Jessica during her courageous battle with glioblastoma brain cancer over the past three years. The outpouring of love from friends, family, healthcare staff, and even strangers has been a source of comfort and strength during this difficult journey.
Jessica Regina Kauppila will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her spirit will live on in the laughter of her children, the beauty of blooming flowers, and the countless lives she touched along the way.
