Jesse Elzea Jr., of Thief River Falls, MN, age 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at the Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, December 3, 2021 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, MN, with Father Rick Lambert presiding.  Interment will be held the Holy Hope Cemetery in Tucson, AZ.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thief River Falls.  Visitation will also take place one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday at the church.

Jesse Phillip Elzea Jr. was born February 13, 1935 at Brainerd, MN, the son of Jesse James and Adeline (Rairden) Elzea.  He was baptized into the Catholic faith, grew up in Staples, MN and attended Sacred Heart School through the 8th grade.  The family then moved to Dassel, MN, where Jesse graduated from Dassel High School in 1954.  He was the oldest child and grew up working on the family farm.

On October 19, 1957, Jesse was united in marriage to Loretta Rosemary Luberacki.  They met in a small grocery store in Minneapolis.  Jesse was working at a Northern Co-operative Barrel Company.  Their first date was to Stations of the Cross.  After their marriage, they lived on the farm near Dassel for a year and then on to Minneapolis, MN, where Jesse worked for Scott Company making outboard motors.  He then started working for Hearth and Home Company.  The couple bought a motel at St. Peter, MN, where they lived and worked for several years. Next move was to Erskine, MN, where they purchased the Win-E-Mac Motel and the next move was to Bemidji, MN and the Budget Host/Royal Inn Motel.  They moved to Tucson, AZ and Jesse worked at the La Paloma Resort until retiring.

Jesse enjoyed fishing and spending time with family.

Jesse is survived by children: Donna (Dan) Christianson, Thief River Falls, MN, Mary (Ken) Winkelman, Thief River Falls, MN and Theresa (Bruce) Ottman, Faribault, MN; 4 grandchildren: Keith, Robert, Amanda and Ryan and 9 great grandchildren:  Kiley, Brynlee, Kendra, Hadley, Joely, Brennen, Nicholas, Adley, and Grayson.

Preceded in death by wife, Loretta in 1995; his parents, Jesse Elzea Sr. and Adeline Kali; and two brothers Ronnie and Michael.
