Obituary | Janice “Jan” trfnews.i234.me of Brooks, Minnesota

Janice “Jan” trfnews.i234.me, 81, of Brooks, MN passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM with the service to celebrate Jan’s life at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer, MN with Rev. Jonathan Dodson and Rev. Timothy Lundeen co-officiating. Burial will follow at Emardville Cemetery, rural Plummer, MN.

Janice Mae Hasse was born September 16, 1943 in Vesta, MN the daughter of Paul and Meta (Valentin) Hasse. She was baptized on October 3, 1943 and confirmed on May 19, 1957 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Vesta, MN. Jan graduated from Redwood Falls High School on June 2, 1961.

On July 14, 1962, Jan was united in marriage to Virgil trfnews.i234.me and the couple made their home on the trfnews.i234.me Family Farm near Revere, MN. To this union, five children were born, Dawn, Kurt, David, Tammi and Eric. Virgil passed away in 2003.

Throughout the years, Jan worked as a nurse’s aide at St. John’s Hospital in Red Lake Falls, waitress at Sullivan’s, Third Base, Best Western, Cozy and Moran’s Supper Club, did some farming, secretary at Brooks Cheese Factory, aid at Plummer School and was a home health aide at Tri-Valley.

For many years, Jan had a special relationship with LeRoy Carriere and he passed away in 2010.

Jan kept a clean house and yard, had a candy dish available for her visitors and enjoyed playing cards. She loved to bake, cook and entertain, and was known for her cheeseballs, potato salad, crab salad and wild rice stuffing. She was not afraid to tackle any tasks, always enjoyed helping others and was a very hard worker. Jan especially loved her family and friends.

Jan was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer, MN and was very active in her community of Brooks.

Jan was a caring, feisty woman who enjoyed making people laugh.

For the past few years, Jan has enjoyed the companionship of Wes Myhre.

Survivors include her children, Dawn (Dave) Kreitzer of Brooks, MN, Dave (Becky) trfnews.i234.me of Wood Lake, MN and Tammi (Doug) Hagen of Erskine, MN; grandchildren, Matthew, Tayler, & Logan Holsapple, John Kreitzer, Zeke, & Tanner trfnews.i234.me, and Dylan Hagen; great-grandchildren, Luella & Everly trfnews.i234.me, Asher & Boone trfnews.i234.me, Weston, Henry & Ensley Kreitzer, Easton, Eli, and Landon Holsapple; sister, Marjorie Danckwart of Lake City, MN; special friend, Wes Myhre; and many other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Eric Lee trfnews.i234.me; son, Kurt trfnews.i234.me; daughter-in-law, Nancy trfnews.i234.me; sister, Mavis Nommensen; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
