George H. Palya, of East Grand Forks, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at the age of 94.
George Herbert Palya was born on November 7, 1928 in Tabor, Minnesota to George & Mary Palya. He worked as a farmer before joining the US Army, and he was a proud Korean War Veteran. George married Elaine Kasprick in 1954 and they had 7 children. He continued to farm for most of his life and also worked for Dunlevy’s delivering fuel. After George retired, he was a custodian and maintenance man at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
George was preceded in death by his brother, Roy Palya; sisters, Mary Ganyo and Helen Hughes; infant son, Frankie; and daughter, Cheryl Palya. He is survived by his children, David (Nona) Palya, Karen (Rod) Opp, Lori (Mick) Siems, Tom (Marita) Palya, and Mike Palya; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Ann Kmecik and Elsie Anderson.
Memorial Service is 1:00pm on Friday, January 27, 2023 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 1515 5th Avenue NW, East Grand Forks, with Visitation 1 hour prior. Luncheon at church to follow.

Private Interment at Tabor Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.
