Carol Violette, 69, of Red Lake Falls, MN passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at Hillcrest Senior Living in Red Lake Falls, MN.
Service of the Word will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN with Father Bob Schreiner officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
Carol Violette was born on December 3, 1954 in Red Lake Falls, MN to Frederick and Harriet (Schmidt) Violette. She attended St. Joseph’s Catholic grade school through 8th grade and graduated from Lafayette High School in Red Lake Falls in 1972.
Carol moved to Duluth, MN in 1975 where she resided for 34 years. While in Duluth, Carol worked in the food and beverage industry at St. Mary’s clinic, Duluth Airport, and several other restaurants.
In 2008, Carol moved back to Red Lake Falls to care for her mom and dad. While living in Red Lake Falls, she was employed for 10 years at Seven Clans Casino in Thief River Falls, retiring in 2019.
Carol and her long-time partner Tom loved spending time at Tom’s family cabin. While some preferred kayaking and sailboats, Carol loved her little paddleboat. She would paddle it to an island by herself or with Tom, spending the day hunting for agates, swimming, campfires, and midnight paddleboat rides.
She and Tom shared three adopted cats who were the light of their lives, Pooder, Queenie, and Baby. She loved her family and friends unconditionally. She enjoyed game shows, puzzles, crosswords and loved taking care of her little house and yard. Carol loved the ocean and snorkeling, and the outdoors.
She wanted to create a memory for children, so she used Halloween as a theme. It brought her joy seeing and inviting children through her tiny home for treats. When they are older, they might remember “that little” Halloween house.
This past year and a half, Carol enjoyed volunteering at the Hillcrest community where her father Fred resides. She enjoyed helping with bingo, supplying lots of the bingo prizes, and visiting with the residents and her dad prior to her residency there.
Carol is survived by her father, Frederick Violette; brothers, Wayne (Judy), Dale (Lana), Mark (Lisa), and Jim (Julie) Violette all of Red Lake Falls; sister, Sally (Neal) Kapp of California; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
Carol is preceded in death by her mother, Harriet Violette; brother, Kevin; long-time partner, Tom; maternal and paternal grandparents; and her three cats.
