Beverly Nething, 91, of Thief River Falls, MN passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at McIntosh Senior Living in McIntosh, MN with her loving family at her side.

Graveside service will be held on Saturday December 4, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield, MN with Reverend James Panning officiating.

Beverly Elaine Nething was born on March 7, 1930 at Milltown, WI daughter of Lilliard and Hulda (Baumgart) Nething. She was baptized in Milltown, WI and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Litchfield, MN. She attended school in the Litchfield area and later graduated from Northland College in Thief River Falls, MN.

She was a charter member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Darwin, MN, where she began teaching Sunday School. She went on to teach Sunday School for many years in Darwin and later in Thief River Falls. She was an active Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader and was a foster care provider in both Meeker and Pennington Counties.

Much of her working life was spent cooking in restaurants. She began working at the Medical Arts Building in Minneapolis and later at the Boulevard Twins restaurant. After moving to Darwin, she operated the Darwin Coffee Shop, where she also was the bookkeeper for the Independent Oil Co. for 11 years. Later, after moving to Thief River Falls, she became an operator for Northwestern Bell for 14 years. After her job was phased out, she managed the lunch counter at the Northern Pride Food Processing Plant in Thief River Falls.

Except for the time spent working for an archeology crew in Southeast Colorado she operated the family dairy farm near Thief River Falls. She loved the land and her cattle.

She loved her children, but her grandchildren were her pride and joy. When the great-grandchildren came, they were the top of the list. She spent numerous hours playing cards, crawling on the floor, and making blanket tents with the kids.

Beverly is survived by her children Larry Wright of Prior Lake, MN, Shelley (Dale) Brekke of Oklee, MN and Ann (Steve) Peterson of Roseville, MN; grandchildren Eric Wright, Tara (Mychal) Hass, Nicole Kramer, Andrew (Willow) Brekke, Casey Brekke, Dylan Brekke; great-grandchildren Triston, Presley, Peyton, Tahlen, Brycen, Natalya, Braxton, Connor, Hadleigh and Coy. Sister Judy Hedrick of Hinckley, MN, Sophie (Steve) Miller of Florida and Ed (Tracy) Nething of Dassel, MN; along with many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter, great-grandson Blake Brekke; siblings Phyllis Turck, Herbert Nething, David Nething, Janice Grimsgard, Harold Nething, Gloria Nething, Dean Nething, Carol Nething, and Joan Nething.
