On December 27, 2024, at approximately 12:04 a.m., a 2008 Lincoln MKZ was pursued northbound on Interstate 29 (I-29) from Roberts County, South Dakota, into Richland County, North Dakota. The pursuit was initiated by a Roberts County Sheriff’s Deputy.
Law Enforcement Response
The North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP) responded to assist and assumed control of the pursuit near mile marker 37 on I-29 in Richland County. An NDHP trooper deployed a Stinger spike strip near mile marker 41, successfully deflating two tires of the Lincoln. Subsequently, another NDHP trooper executed a Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) maneuver, causing the vehicle to enter the median and become immobilized.
Arrest and Charges
The driver, identified as Gregory Richards, a 40-year-old male from Fargo, North Dakota, was taken into custody and transported to the Richland County Jail. He faces charges including felony fleeing (second offense in three years), misdemeanor driving under the influence of drugs, driving under suspension (fourth offense in five years), and reckless endangerment.
Passenger Details
