5 dead, 30 injured. Half the town destroyed; deaths in four homes. -
Aug 20, 1911 – Renville County / Antler
5 dead, 30 injured. One child died when a farm home was blown away. -
June 24, 1923 – Bucyrus / Hettinger
8 dead, 20 injured. Five died in two ranch homes north of Hettinger. -
May 22, 1933 – Hettinger & Grant Counties
4 dead, 8 injured. All four children died on a single farm. -
July 1, 1935 – McKenzie & Mountrail Counties
4 dead, 7 injured. A half-mile-wide tornado hit several farms. -
July 3, 1947 – Grafton (near Auburn)
7 dead, 14 injured. Migrant workers were killed in labor housing. -
June 20, 1957 – Fargo
10 dead, 103 injured. Over 1,300 homes destroyed, some swept away entirely. -
July 4, 1978 – Elgin
5 dead, 35 injured. Homes, a truck, a car, and an RV were destroyed.
