North Dakota Explores Strategies to Prevent Recidivism and Reduce Prison Re-entry

BISMARCK, ND (trfnews.i234.me) North Dakota lawmakers are considering legislation to study how to keep people returning to prison.
one thing that might come from this legislative session is a brand new 160 million dollar women’s prison in Mandan and that among other things as lawmakers considering helping people who are incarcerated return to society this week the House of Representatives passed HCR of 3026 which it gives legislative management the opportunity to study re-entry services and outcomes for people who are incarcerated lawmakers behind the resolution Believe by identifying the most effective re-entry Services they can reduce recidivism in North Dakota every year 1400 prisoners are released from our prisons and thousands of people leave our jails to re-enter our communities recidivism rate 40 percent how can we do better said representative birdie sacrum uh republican from Jamestown costs about fifty five thousand dollars per year to incarcerate someone in the state prison and about 110 dollars per day in county jails lawmakers hope long-term outcomes will save tax dollars increase Public Safety and improve lives the resolution heads to the Senate

  1. these are all dumb comments, and i mean no disrespect. but none solve any issues that are making people commit crime. hurtin this part of the population is only going to bring retaliation and more hatred towards law enforcement and the establishment.
