Shelly, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – Breaking news from the Central Red River Valley in Norman County, where a major grain elevator fire is burning early Friday morning in the town of Shelly, Minnesota.
Emergency dispatchers first received reports at 4:50 a.m., indicating flames coming from the top of the grain elevator located along Highway 75, roughly midway between Fargo and Grand Forks on the Minnesota side of the river.
Fire crews from multiple surrounding communities have responded to the scene. As of this report, the grain elevator is fully engulfed, and crews are having difficulty getting the fire under control—a common challenge with grain elevator fires due to the combustible material inside and the structure’s height.
Power outages have also been reported in a significant portion of the town as a result of the fire.
At this time, there are no reports of injuries.
TRF News will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available.
