Norman County (trfnews.i234.me) – A Leonard man is facing felony drug and fleeing charges, along with a gross misdemeanor DWI, after a high-speed pursuit through Norman County.

According to court documents, 41-year-old Dallas Jeremiah Torgerson was arrested on August 28, 2025. Prosecutors charged him with felony fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance, felony fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, and gross misdemeanor third-degree DWI.

The case began when law enforcement attempted to stop Torgerson’s vehicle near Mahnomen. He reportedly refused to stop and fled, entering Norman County. Officers said the pursuit reached speeds of 90 to 100 miles per hour. The vehicle eventually left the roadway and became stuck in cattails near a rural location outside Ada. Torgerson was then taken into custody.

A passenger in the car told police she did not know why Torgerson was fleeing. Torgerson allegedly admitted he had outstanding warrants and had used methamphetamine earlier that day. A search of the vehicle turned up blank checks, along with a small bag containing 0.67 grams of a substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine. A urine test also tested positive for meth use.

Records show Torgerson has prior convictions for drug offenses and impaired driving. He is also currently wanted on felony warrants in North Dakota and Minnesota.

If convicted, Torgerson faces up to five years in prison on the drug charge and more than three years for fleeing police. The DWI count carries up to 364 days in jail.
