Nicollet County: Young Driver Crashes Into Guardrail on Hwy 169 – Lands in Ditch

Nicollet County (trfnews.i234.me) — Dylan Michael Smith, age 19, of Saint Peter, MN, was injured in a single-vehicle crash on March 21, 2025, in Belgrade Township, Nicollet County.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:08 a.m. when Smith’s 2016 Chevy Sonic was traveling southbound on Highway 169 near milepost 59. Authorities say the vehicle lost control, struck the guardrail, and came to rest in the ditch.

Smith sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System Mankato for treatment. The road was reported dry at the time of the crash, and whether alcohol was a factor is still under investigation.

Responding agencies included the Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office, Nicollet Fire Department, and Mayo Clinic Ambulance.
