Nicollet County: Teen Driver Rolls Chevy Suburban Off Highway 22

Nicollet County (trfnews.i234.me) — In New Sweden Township, Nicollet County, a 17-year-old male driver veered off Highway 22 around 12:11 AM on March 22, 2025, causing a Chevy Suburban to leave the roadway, strike a field approach, and roll over.

A 16-year-old female passenger, identified as Stina Johanna Quist of Saint Peter, was also in the vehicle. Thankfully, no injuries requiring hospital treatment were documented for either occupant.

The emergency response included the Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office, Gaylord Fire Department, and Allina Ambulance. The incident occurred under dry road conditions, and no alcohol was reported as a factor.

Did you know?

  • Teen drivers in Minnesota are statistically more likely to be involved in rollover crashes, particularly in rural areas.

  • Nicollet County sees several single-vehicle rollovers annually, often attributed to roadway departure on rural highways.

  • Chevy Suburbans have a higher center of gravity, which can increase the likelihood of rollovers in off-road conditions.
