Nicole Lynn Arroyo Strikes Deer on Hwy 55 in Pope County

Pope County (trfnews.i234.me) — A routine drive turned dangerous early Sunday morning when 42-year-old Nicole Lynn Arroyo of Glenwood, MN, struck a deer while traveling eastbound on Highway 55 near mile marker 65.

According to law enforcement reports, Arroyo’s 2020 Chevrolet Equinox collided with the animal, causing significant damage to the vehicle. The airbags deployed upon impact, but Arroyo, who was NOT wearing a seatbelt, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Emergency responders from Pope County, Glacial Ridge Ambulance, and the Lowry Fire Department arrived at the scene, providing assistance before transporting Arroyo to Glacial Ridge Hospital for treatment.

The road conditions were reported as dry, and authorities confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

This incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of wildlife crossings on Minnesota highways, especially during early morning hours.
