  1. Let's waste a month to do a study that will come to the conclusion that a 90 degree turn in the middle of a city is bad for trucks and pedestrians. That intersection should have been taken care of at least 20 years ago, rerouting the highway somewhere else.

  2. They need knock down the bank and move the road over that way they can move the side walk further back this is not sim fault he can't see what in back them when they are turning this should been done years ago it seem to take a lot bad accident after accident before they do some thing about it

  3. I have made that same turn in a semi.
Did you see the semi take the corner in the report? The tractor was in the other lane as he took the corner. That's the only way it works.
I have blocked traffic many times forcing cars to backup to make the short corner like this one. My guess is that when the driver took the corner, there was a car stopped in the lane, and when he couldn't do the turn perfectly, the trailer tires rolled the sidewalk.
My prayers for everyone and know the driver is beating himself up.

  4. A metal guard rail could be put up around the corner TODAY with openings for the sidewalks. At minimum a driver would know he hit something and not go driving off. Seems like a logical simple temporary fix so probably won't happen.

  5. Start by banning all truck thru-traffic. There's two bypasses. Make it a fine that gets people's attention. 1k+. Set a sherrif or city cop there to start stopping trucks and making sure they have reason to be there. I have never worked in Watford City, ND but i know just from word of mouth to take their bypass or get a huge fine.
