New Laws Proposed to Combat Drug Trafficking on Social Media

WASHINGTON D.C. (trfnews.i234.me) – In a significant move to tackle drug trafficking on social media, Minnesota Congresswoman Angie Craig plans to introduce a new bill in the US House of Representatives. This measure aims to prevent the illegal sale of drugs on platforms like Snapchat, where many young people are exposed to dangerous substances.

Senator Amy Klobuchar had introduced a similar bill in the US Senate last year. Today, Craig and Klobuchar will discuss the importance of passing this legislation alongside Bridget Noring of Hastings, who tragically lost her 19-year-old son, Deon, to fentanyl poisoning. Deon died in April 2020 after purchasing a counterfeit pill on Snapchat, believing it to be a legitimate medication.

The proposed laws seek to hold social media companies accountable and enhance their efforts to prevent drug trafficking on their platforms, potentially saving countless lives from the dangers of counterfeit drugs.
