FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State wrestling will open up the home schedule this week, as the Bison welcome in Oregon State for a dual Friday, November 8, at the Scheels Center at 7 p.m. NDSU will then host several programs for the 53rd annual Bison Open wrestling tournament on Saturday, November 9. The event is set to get underway at 10 a.m. inside the Scheels Center.
Tickets
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for youth ages 3-17 for Friday night’s dual. For the Bison Open, tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for youth. Tickets are available online at GoBison.com/tickets or by calling/visiting the Bison Ticket Office, located in the south lobby of the Sanford Health Athletic Complex. Tickets will also be available on Friday night and Saturday at the door.

Coverage
The dual against the Beavers will also be streamed live on NDSU All-Access. The dual will also have live results. Saturday’s Bison Open will have live results through TrackWrestling. Links for coverage will be available on GoBison.com.
The Series
The Bison and Beavers meet for the ninth time in program history on Friday. Oregon State holds a 5-3 record to lead the series, but NDSU has won the last two meetings in 2018 and 2021. NDSU is 2-2 in Fargo, however, the Bison are 1-5 against the Beavers when Oregon State is ranked.
Wrapping Last Week
The Bison opened up the season with a loss at Virginia on Friday, November 1. Aidan Brenot picked up a ranked victory over #25 Hadyn Danals and Max Petersen also recorded a win. THe Bison also had 14 placers at multiple open events on Saturday, with eight placers at the Southeast Open in Virginia and six placers at the Jimmie Open in Jamestown.
Two Bison Make Appearances in the Rankings
North Dakota State has two new members in the rankings after performances during the opening week. Aidan Brenot picked up his first two career ranked wins last week and makes his first-ever appearance in the rankings at #31 in the InterMat poll. Gavin Drexler was ranked much of last season at 141 pounds and he makes his debut in the rankings at 149 pounds after a 4-1 week that included a narrow loss to a top 10 wrestler and another ranked win, debuting at #32.
Magayna Impresses In Debut
True freshman Max Magayna made his debut for the Bison last weekend at the Southeast Open, claiming the 174-pound title in the Freshman/Sophomore Division of the Southeast Open hosted by Virginia Tech. In his collegiate debut, Magayna impressed by recording three straight pins in 1:45, 4:59 and 1:31 to begin the tournament, before recording an 11-3 major decision in the final against Davidson’s Marc Koch.
Up Next
Bison wrestling heads back on the road next week and will take a large group to the Daktronics Open in Brookings, South Dakota. The Bison will compete in the South Dakota State hosted event on Sunday, November 17, with opening rounds set to begin at 10 a.m. from the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.
