NDSU Women’s Basketball Rolls Past Jamestown, 88-50

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State women’s basketball team closed out its three-game homestand to open the season with an 88-50 victory over Jamestown on Friday night at Scheels Center.

Abby Krzewinski led the way for the Bison (2-1) with 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field with four rebounds and one steal. Miriley Simon also added in 13 points off the bench on 6-of-10 shooting from the field with a team-high seven rebounds.

As a team, the Bison shot 50.8 percent (32-63) from the field with 11 different players reaching the scoring column. Krzewinski (15), Simon (13), Molly Lenz (12) and Avery Koenen (11) all posted double digits in scoring. The bench poured in a season-high 44 points and the Bison scored a season-best 40 points in the paint.

After opening up a 28-18 lead following the first quarter, NDSU put together an 8-0 run in the second frame to stretch its edge to 36-20 with a pair of free throws from Koenen at the 7:22 mark. The Bison led at the intermission, 44-29.

NDSU then began to put the game away starting the third quarter on an 8-0 run to make the score 52-29 with a jumper from Abbie Draper with 7:52 on the clock. The Bison, who shot 57.7 percent from the field in the second half, went on to close out the final quarter to pick up the 88-50 win.

NDSU will be back in action at the ASRC/ConocoPhillips Great Alaska Shootout against Vermont on Friday, Nov. 22. Tip-off is set for 8:15 p.m. CT in Anchorage, Alaska.
