FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State volleyball team fell short against South Dakota, 3-1, on Thursday night at Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.
After splitting the first two sets, South Dakota (18-6, 10-3 Summit) captured momentum in the third frame doubling up NDSU (10-12, 6-7 Summit), 14-7, following an attack error. The Bison battled their way back with a late 5-2 run to trim the deficit down to two, 23-21, after another attack error. However, South Dakota went on to hold off NDSU the rest of the way to steal the frame, 25-22.
The Coyotes once again used a quick start in the fourth set to build a 13-6 lead following a pair of attack errors. South Dakota then began to put the set away extending its lead to 19-13 with a kill from Lauren Medeck. The Coyotes went on to win the set, 25-16, and the match, 3-1.
Alexis Boling led the way with a team-best 13 kills, while Arianna Blohm posted nine kills with a team-high five blocks. Maddy Dombeck handed out a team-best 20 assists with seven digs and Eke Denessen logged a double-double with 18 assists and 12 digs. Logan O’Brien rounded out the top performers with a match-high 18 digs of her own.
NDSU will be back in action at South Dakota State on Saturday. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m.
