NDSU Volleyball Stumbles at Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. – The North Dakota State volleyball team fell short against Omaha, 3-0, at Baxter Arena on Saturday night.

Ali Hinze paced the Bison (7-7, 3-2 Summit) with a team-high 13 digs and eight kills, while Lauren Jansen added five kills with four digs. Logan O’Brien also reached double figures in digs with 11 and Maddy Dombeck handed out nine assists.

Omaha (6-10, 4-1 Summit) quickly ran out to a 14-6 advantage at the midway point of the opening frame. The Mavericks, who recorded a .333 hitting percentage in the set, increased their lead to double digits, 19-9, following an attack error. Omaha went on to win the set, 25-14.

The Mavericks carried the momentum into the second frame building a 16-10 lead with a kill from McKenna Ruch. Omaha posted a match-best .452 hitting percentage in the frame and went on to win the set, 25-18. NDSU responded in the third set stealing a 10-7 edge before Omaha answered with 11 straight points to make the score 18-10. The Mavericks closed out the set, 25-13, and the match, 3-0.

NDSU will be back in action hosting South Dakota State on Thursday night. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m., at Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.
