FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State volleyball team rolled past Denver in straight sets, 3-0, to stay unbeaten in Summit League play on Thursday night at Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.
Lauren Jansen powered the Bison (6-5, 2-0 Summit) with a match-high nine kills to go along with six digs and one service ace. Ali Hinze added in a match-best nine digs with eight kills, while Eke Denessen handed out a match-high 18 assists.
The Bison got off to a fast start posting a match-best .488 hitting percentage in the opening set. NDSU quickly built a 13-5 advantage with a kill from Jansen. The Bison then stretched their lead up to 21-12 with a block from Arianna Blohm and Baily Randall. NDSU went on to take the set, 25-17.
The Pioneers (5-8, 0-3 Summit) pushed back in the second set doubling up the Bison, 8-4. NDSU responded with seven straight points capped off by a pair of aces from Maddy Dombeck to regain the edge, 11-8. The Bison then took advantage of attack errors to increase their lead to 19-13. NDSU closed out the second frame, 25-18.
NDSU carried the momentum into the third set building a 9-4 lead with a kill from Boling. The Bison then started to put the match away with a 10-1 run to make the score 19-5 after a service ace from Ally Barth. NDSU went on to win the frame, 25-12, and the match, 3-0.
NDSU will continue its home swing hosting Oral Roberts on Saturday. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m., at Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.
