NDSU Seeking New Cheer Team Coach and Cheerleaders

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State University athletic department is accepting applications for a cheer coach to oversee the NDSU cheer team, a co-ed squad of cheerleaders and a mascot who appear at all Bison football and basketball home games, plus occasional travel to select road games and championship events.

This part-time position is open until filled with an expected starting date in March 2024. Individuals with experience as a cheerleader or cheerleading coach at the high school or college level are encouraged to apply. Interested coaches must possess effective coaching techniques and skills related to cheers, stunting and choreography.

Cheer team coach is a part-time position with responsibility for instructing, mentoring and recruiting team members. The coach will conduct tryouts, assess skills, develop practice plans, supervise the cheerleaders and mascot during practices and games, coordinate campus and community appearances, maintain the cheer team budget, and monitor academic performance of team members to ensure success.

Cheerleader Tryouts in March

Are you a current or incoming NDSU student interested in cheerleading for the Bison? Submit the Cheer Team Tryout Form and get ready to attend tryouts for the 2024-25 NDSU cheer team!

Team members have the opportunity to cheer for NDSU’s Division I football and basketball teams, make occasional road trips to events such as conference and national championships, and serve as ambassadors for the university and athletics program by participating in community events such as Bison Fan Day, parades, pep rallies, and other charitable or public relations events.

Cheer team tryouts are planned for March 29-30, 2024.
