SELLERSURG, Ind. – North Dakota State men’s golf opened up the 2024 Summit League Championships with a +1 round of 289 to sit sixth overall at the Covered Bridge Golf Club.
Ian Simonich leads the way for NDSU, sitting in seventh overall in the 45-golfer field at -3, three shots off the lead. As a team, the Bison sit 16 shots behind Kansas City (-15).
Simonich carded four birdies in the opening round with just one bogey on the par 72, 7,000-yard course. Jake Skarperud also carded four birdies on the day and shot a 71 to finish the first round at -1 in a tie for 16th.
Josh Galvin led the team with five birdies on the day, but also ran into trouble with an 8 on the par-3 fifth, as he finished the day at +2 with a 74 in a tie for 32nd. Nate Adams had an eagle, but just one bogey and shot a 75 to wrap NDSU’s scoring. He sits in 39th. Jack Johnson shot a 77 and will enter day two in 43rd.
The Bison will return to action on Monday, beginning the second round with tee offs starting at 7:50 a.m. CT.
