HOMER, Neb. – The North Dakota State men’s golf team climbed two spots on day two of the Throw Down, Up Top, hosted by South Dakota at Landmand Golf Club.
Josh Galvin led the way for the Bison on the day, firing a -1 round of 72 on the par-73 course to climb up the individual leaderboard to 17th overall. Galvin had six birdies in his round, including the final two holes to move to +3 overall for the event.
Rylin Petry remains the top Bison on the individual leaderboard after a round of 75 (+2) to stay in the top 10 overall. Petry had four birdies on the back nine to overcome a tough start, as he sits eighth overall at +1 headed into the final day.
Jake Skarperud also shot a 75 on day two, as he moved up to 29th overall at +5. Skarperud had two birdies in his round. Ian Simonich capped the scoring for the Bison in round two with a 76 (+3). Simonich also had two birdies and sits in a tie with Galvin in 17th overall at +3.
Sean Moore fired a 79 in the second round and sits in 48th overall in the 72-golfer field at +11. NDSU individual Max Wilson shot a +5 round in the second round to fall to +4, in a tie for 24th overall. Fellow individual Carter Spalding shot a +8 in round two and sits tied with Moore at 48th with a +11.
The Bison (+12) passed Creighton (+13) and host South Dakota (+16) on day two, moving into the final pairings for the third and final round on Wednesday. Loyola-Chicago (-2) leads with St. Thomas (+3) and Omaha (+6) rounding out the top three.
The third and final round will get underway on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at Landmand Golf Club.
