National Weather Service: Winter Storm Webinar

Weather Service regarding that approaching winter storm.
here’s a recap of a webinar just held by the National Weather Service in Grand Forks regarding our upcoming storm a recap crippling early winter storm heavy snow 12 inches high winds excessive rain possible freezing freezing rain impacted areas eastern North Dakota into Northwest and west central Minnesota timing and duration Wednesday night through Saturday this is a long event impacts impossible and dangerous travel blizzard conditions downed tree limbs possible power outage localized flooding and around the region here’s the look at the onset of the snow timing the graphic shows current winter storm warning and watches out as of Wednesday here over later estimated timing areas for the onset of snowfall snow will begin in the Devils Lake Basin and slowly moves eastward through the entire event you can see it 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Wednesday night it’s gonna be west of us yet and Thursday starting to move into the Grand Forks area and as we see they’re looking for rain in some areas all the way into Friday and then snow for everybody here’s a look at late Wednesday through Thursday the season’s first significant snowfall Weather Service says most uncertain on amounts and impacts near the rain or snow line particularly within the Red River Valley light icing possible here – 2 to 3 inches of rain fall within the Red River Valley in Minnesota raising localized flooding concerns the highest amounts will be in the valley again as I reported about a week ago we were within a couple inches of having the wettest fall on record that would put us over the top for sure it looks like either way whatever happens with this event we’re going to be go down as the wettest fall ever at least in Grand Forks ok here’s a look at Friday into Saturday a risk of greater than six inches of a snow in addition to round one the heaviest snow 12 inches possible and more blizzard conditions crippling again crippling impact to travel aggghhhhh possible power outages significant drifting snow you see the wind gusts are Saturday 40 to 60 miles per hour west of the valley and 30 to 45 east of the valley so the Weather Service says it’s time to get prepared for impossible dangerous travel conditions prepare for possible power outages think about canceling unnecessary plans put a winter survival kit in your vehicle do not drive in through flooded waters and stay tuned Weather Service will have updates as things progress here I’m Neil Berg reporting for I news TV
