How the crash happened

Troopers say a Freightliner semi was traveling north on Highway 59. An International straight truck was traveling south on Highway 59. The two vehicles collided in Mason Township.

The report did not list a cause. The crash is listed as a fatal crash. Authorities said one occupant was unbelted or unrestrained.

Drivers identified

The semi driver was identified as Dennis Keith Kor, 58, of Minneota, Minnesota. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers said he was not wearing a seat belt. Airbags did not deploy. Alcohol was not involved, according to the report.

The straight truck driver was identified as Michael Arthur Griffin, 61, of Tyler, Minnesota. Troopers said Griffin had life-threatening injuries. He was taken to Sanford in Sioux Falls for treatment. Troopers said he was wearing a seat belt. Airbags did not deploy. Alcohol was not involved.

Agencies that responded

The Murray County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene. Slayton Fire also responded. Murray County Ambulance and Currie first responders were called in.
