Multi-Vehicle Collision on I-94 in Monticello

Monticello (trfnews.i234.me) – A multi-vehicle collision occurred on December 9, 2025, at 3:28 PM on eastbound I-94 near the Highway 25 overpass in Monticello, Wright County. All vehicles involved were traveling eastbound when they collided due to icy road conditions.

The crash involved a 2021 Freightliner semi-truck driven by 65-year-old Scott Donald Appel of Bloomington, MN, a 2020 Peterbilt semi-truck driven by 22-year-old Lukas Gerald Seifert of Princeton, MN, a 2022 Mack straight truck driven by 42-year-old Jose Manuel Hernandez of Tampa, FL, a 2023 Ford Escape driven by 43-year-old Erick A. Cavada of Lakeville, MN, and a 2019 Mack semi-truck driven by 55-year-old Douglas Harold Allain of Mora, MN.

There were no injuries to the truck drivers. Cavada, the driver of the Ford Escape, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Monticello Hospital. All drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash, and no alcohol was involved.

The road conditions at the time of the incident were snow-covered and icy, contributing to the hazardous conditions. Emergency responders, including Wright County Sheriff’s Office, Monticello Fire, and Centra Care Ambulance, assisted at the scene.
