MORE DETAILS: Walsh County Sheriff’s Office Releases More Details In Attack On Deputy


WALSH COUNTY, ND (trfnews.i234.me) The Walsh County Sheriff’s Office has released more details regarding a Tuesday afternoon assault of a deputy.
More details released now regarding that attack on a deputy up in Walsh County just north of Mento. Uh this from public information officer Christopher Larson Larson. A Walsh County Sheriff’s deputy was involved in an incident while attempting to arrest a suspect near Mento on Tuesday afternoon. Sheriff’s Office dispatched at 2:52 p.m. to area of Highway 81 north of Mento for a report of a male who was lying down in the middle of traffic and reportedly jumping toward traffic. The male had also been attempting to get into vehicles and was attacking people. According to radio traffic at the time, Walsh County Sheriff’s Office arrived to find 39year-old Andrew Matson of St. Thomas walking in the middle of heavy traffic on the highway. A deputy ordered Matson to stop several times and he turned around and aggressively ran toward the deputy at which time the officer attempted to deploy his taser which failed and Matson physically attacked him. The deputy is not being named at this time. Matson was taken to the ground after resisting initially and placed in handcuffs and taken to a local hospital for medical clearance. While at the hospital, he spit at a deputy. He faces the following felony charges: domestic violence, aggravated assault, terrorizing, two counts, reckless endangerment, assault on peace officer, contact by bodily fluids, and unlawful entry into vehicle.
