Clay County, MN (trfnews.i234.me) — A Moorhead woman is in custody following a dramatic police chase involving a stolen vehicle on Thursday afternoon.
On May 1, just before 3:30 p.m., the Moorhead Police Department and the Clay County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a white Chevrolet pickup driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-94, erratically switching between the lane and the shoulder.
Shortly thereafter, authorities were alerted to a vehicle theft from the 1900 block of 28th Avenue South in Moorhead. The stolen vehicle matched the description of the reckless driver on I-94.
Law enforcement located the pickup stopped on the shoulder in the 200 block of Highway 336. As Clay County Sheriff Mark Empting and a Minnesota State Trooper approached, the driver, identified as 39-year-old Timberly Devereaux, fled eastbound through a ditch into a grassy area.
Devereaux entered a gravel pit where the vehicle became stuck. She then attempted to escape on foot but was found shortly thereafter hiding under a tarp and taken into custody without incident.
Devereaux faces charges of felony fleeing in a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, and fleeing on foot. She is currently held at the Clay County Correctional Center.
