Moorhead (trfnews.i234.me) – A serious incident unfolded in Moorhead as Daisy M. Butcher faces felony charges of first-degree assault, great bodily harm, and assault with a dangerous weapon after allegedly stabbing her sister. The charges stem from a disturbing event that occurred on January 9th at 1:28 a.m.
Initial Report of Impaired Person
Law enforcement responded to a report of an impaired person at the Moorhead Public Safety and Security, located on 9th Avenue South. A female, later identified as Butcher, was standing near the entrance holding a bottle of alcohol and in visible pain. Officers observed that Butcher was intoxicated and holding a nearly empty vodka bottle. When asked if she had consumed too much alcohol, she nodded in agreement.
Alleged Confession
Butcher admitted to drinking the entire bottle of vodka and indicated that she may have also taken an excessive number of her prescription pills. She reportedly said, “I think I killed my sister,” and repeated the statement when questioned further.
Discovery of the Victim
Officers responded to the address Butcher provided and found the victim, Butcher’s sister, lying on the ground outside of an apartment building. The victim appeared unconscious and unresponsive, with small amounts of blood visible on her stomach. The officer performed sternum rubs, and the victim regained some responsiveness.
Victim’s Injuries and Hospitalization
When the ambulance arrived, they began cutting off the victim’s sweatshirt, which was soaked in blood. A laceration about an inch wide was found under the victim’s left armpit, and blood was observed on her bra and sweatshirt. The victim was rushed to the hospital, where she was admitted to intensive care.
Victim’s Statement
The victim later told police that she remembered being kicked out of the house after being stabbed and yelled, “I got stabbed. I got stabbed.”
Butcher is now facing multiple felony charges for the assault, and the investigation continues as authorities await further developments.
