Moorhead Woman Arrested for Allegedly Slashing Man’s Neck in Unprovoked Attack

MOORHEAD, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – Moorhead police have arrested 36-year-old Mary Nicole Hjelseth after she allegedly slashed a man’s neck with a knife late Thursday night. The incident occurred in the 1800 block of 20th Street, where officers responded to reports of a serious injury. The 43-year-old male victim, who lived in the apartment, reported that the attack was unprovoked. After sustaining the life-threatening injury, the victim sought help from neighbors while the suspect fled the scene.

Hjelseth was later apprehended without incident in the 3000 block of 18th Street South. She is currently being held in the Clay County Jail and faces multiple charges, including second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault causing great bodily harm, and domestic assault.
