Moorhead (trfnews.i234.me) — Moorhead Police say the Red River Valley SWAT Team helped officers arrest a wanted man during a high-risk search warrant at a city apartment building.
High-Risk Warrant Served On South Moorhead Apartment
According to a news release, the operation happened Tuesday at about 4 p.m. Officers and the Red River Valley SWAT Team went to an apartment building in the 1900 block of 18th Avenue South.
Police say they were serving a high-risk, no-knock search warrant.
The building is in a residential area on Moorhead’s south side.
The Red River Valley SWAT Team was called due to the suspect’s criminal history, according to the release. Officials said the goal was to safely serve the warrant and to reduce risk to neighbors and officers.
No shots were fired during the entry. Police say residents in the area were not hurt.
Suspect Arrested On Warrants From Two Counties
Inside the apartment, officers found James Schaan, 43, of Moorhead. He was taken into custody without incident, according to police.

Investigators say Schaan was wanted on outstanding warrants. One warrant was from Clay County for attempted theft.
Another warrant was from Hennepin County for theft of a motor vehicle, according to the release. The new arrest is based on those warrants. Any new local charges would be filed later.
Schaan was taken to the Clay County Jail. He is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
Investigation Continues After SWAT Operation
Moorhead Police say the case remains an active investigation.
Officers did not release details about the search itself.
It was not clear what items, if any, were seized during the warrant.
