Moorhead Police Investigate Fatal Shooting in Clay County – Suspect at Large
On Sunday morning, April 13, 2025, a fatal shooting occurred in the 2700 block of 14th Street South in Moorhead, Minnesota. Officers from the Moorhead Police Department responded to reports of gunshots just after 9:30 AM. Upon arrival, they discovered a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sergeant Joe Brannan of the Moorhead Police Department stated that the shooting did not appear to be a random act. The suspect is believed to have fled the scene in a newer-model, light green Chevrolet midsize SUV. Authorities consider the individual armed and dangerous and advise the public not to approach. The area surrounding the crime scene, near the Probstfield Center for Education, has been cordoned off as investigators process the scene.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting with the investigation. Anyone with information regarding the suspect or the vehicle is urged to contact the Red River Regional Dispatch Center at (701) 451-7660. The Moorhead Police Department is being assisted by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, the Dilworth Police Department, the Moorhead Fire Department, and Sanford Ambulance.
