Moorhead, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) — An 18-year-old Fargo man faces felony charges after a gun report on I-94.

Prosecutors charged Alek Noah Torres with four felonies in Clay County Court.

The counts include second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.

They also include two counts tied to illegal gun and ammo possession.

Torres is also charged with receiving stolen property.

What investigators say

A criminal complaint says police got two calls Monday evening.

Both callers reported someone pointing a gun at nearby vehicles.

The reports came near I-94 and 8th Street in Moorhead.

One driver told a Minnesota state trooper that a black Chevrolet Impala pulled alongside her.

She said it happened at about 6:54 p.m.

She reported a laser beam entered her car.

She then saw a flash that lit the other vehicle.

She said she saw a handgun aimed from the rear passenger seat.

The driver described three or four teens in the car.

She said they appeared Hispanic and were about 16 or 17.

About 40 minutes later, a trooper located the Impala at a Kwik Trip on Main Avenue Southeast.

The complaint says the Impala nearly hit another vehicle while failing to yield.

The trooper then made a traffic stop, according to the filing.

Investigators identified Torres as the rear passenger.

That is the seat named in the driver’s report.

Police say they found a black backpack on the front passenger floorboard.

They say the bag held a loaded SIG Sauer P320 handgun.

The gun had a flashlight and a laser attached, the complaint says.

Officers also found 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition, authorities said.

Investigators say the handgun was reported stolen in Fargo, North Dakota.

They also reported finding a black face mask in the bag.

The complaint also lists a small scale and a plastic bag.

Officers said the bag showed suspected meth residue.

Gun ban claim

Prosecutors say Torres cannot possess guns or ammunition in Minnesota.

They cite a juvenile case for threats of violence in Clay County.

The filing lists that adjudication as December 2025.

Minnesota law limits gun possession by some people in certain cases.

Readers can review Minn. Stat. § 624.713.

What happens next

The complaint says Torres declined to speak with investigators.

He remained in custody ahead of a scheduled first appearance on Wednesday.

Court information is posted by the Clay County District Court.

Charges are allegations in a criminal case.

Torres is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
