AKELEY TOWNSHIP, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A 50-year-old woman from Monticello, Minnesota, was injured in a wildlife-related crash Sunday morning, June 22, in Akeley Township.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 10:58 a.m. along Highway 64 at milepost 47—about two miles south of Akeley. A 2017 Chevrolet Colorado pickup driven by Jennifer Marie Banister was traveling northbound when a deer suddenly entered the roadway from the east ditch. The vehicle struck the deer head-on.
The airbag deployed, and Banister was wearing a seatbelt. She sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital for treatment.
The road was dry at the time, and no alcohol was involved. Hubbard County authorities and North Ambulance assisted at the scene.
