Minnetonka, Hennepin County (trfnews.i234.me) – Another Minnesota law enforcement officer is facing federal charges in connection with child sexual abuse material. Anthony John Crowley, 52, of Minnetonka and a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer, has been arrested and charged with possessing material involving minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
Crowley appeared in U.S. District Court and was ordered to remain in custody while the investigation continues. Officials have not disclosed how the material was obtained or how long he had served with CBP.
This arrest marks the third Minnesota-based officer charged recently:
-
Timothy Ryan Gregg, a Homeland Security agent, was charged last week.
-
Jeremy Francis Plonski, a Minnesota State Patrol trooper, was arrested in May.
Acting U.S. Attorney Joseph H. Thompson condemned the wave of abuse, saying his office has “zero tolerance” for those in trusted positions who exploit children. FBI’s Minneapolis Field Office and CBP’s Office of Professional Responsibility are leading the investigation.
“Position and power will not shield you from accountability,” stated FBI Special Agent Alvin Winston.
