Minnesota & Wisconsin (trfnews.i234.me) — With another wave of choking wildfire smoke from Canada blanketing the Upper Midwest, Republican members of Congress from Minnesota and Wisconsin are urging Canada to take stronger action on forest management.
In a formal letter to the Canadian ambassador, lawmakers warned of the ongoing health risk to constituents, stating:
“Our constituents have been limited in their ability to go outside and safely breathe due to the dangerous air quality the wildfire smoke has created.”
The letter was signed by Minnesota Representatives Michelle Fishbach, Brad Finstead, Tom Emmer, and Pete Dober and underscores bipartisan concern over transboundary wildfire impact.
Meanwhile, a 21-person crew of Minnesota DNR firefighters has been deployed to Lin Lake Winnipeg, Manitoba, as part of ongoing firefighting assistance.
This latest push highlights growing frustration as air quality alerts continue across the region, affecting daily life, health, and the environment.
