Minnesota State Patrol Finalizes Body Camera Implementation

ST. PAUL, MN (trfnews.i234.me) The Minnesota Department of Public Safety has announced that all State Patrol Officers across the State are now equipped with body cameras.
all right you got me right here sir get on the ground by now we’ve all seen dramatic police body cam video of shootouts like this one in jacksonville florida well the minnesota state patrol has now completed their rollout of body cameras the patrol is fully equipped with body-worn cameras as of may 5th statewide rollout of the body camera project began december 1st of 2021 and was completed on time and within the projected budget although we’d like to think every state trooper is perfect we are human beings just like everyone else capturing interactions on body worn cameras will hold everyone accountable because they provide a record of what actually occurred between the trooper and member of the public said colonel matt langer chief of the minnesota state patrol during the project the minnesota state patrol installed 644 in-car camera systems and issued body-worn cameras to 613 sworn members of the patrol and 92 non-sworn members body-worn cameras have also been issued to commercial vehicle inspectors and capital security officers in total it issued 705 body cameras and 1 349 camera systems over the last five months since the start of the project the agency has captured more than 280 000 pieces of video evidence which accu equates to 116 000 gigabytes of data are over 60 000 hours of video in the last month troopers captured over 96 000 pieces of video evidence for a total of over 19 000 hours of video troopers are projected to record an average of 3200 pieces of video evidence uh 616 hours per day across the state now that the project is complete i’m Neil Berg reporting for trfnews.i234.me [Music]

  1. Does the officer have the ability to turn off the camera or not?
    That is the real problem with body cameras.
    Good idea if there is 100% accountability and no way for a officer to mute or stop the camera. Many examples of drugs being planted are out there, not all are BS.
