Minnesota State Patrol: 181 crashes overnight due to snow

MINNEAPOLIS — On Halloween morning, snow-covered roads across the region made driving slippery and frightening.

In the period between midnight and 9 a.m. on Tuesday, 181 crashes were reported across the state by the Minnesota State Patrol.

Fortunately, none of the crashes resulted in serious or fatal injuries.

In addition, the State Patrol responded to 121 spinouts and 13 jackknifed semi-trailers.

A ratio of one operator per plow truck is ideal for Hennepin County’s 80 plow trucks.

The county has offered jobs to three new plow operators, bringing the team to full strength.

A total of 1,600 plow operators are employed by the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) for 800 routes throughout the state.
