DETROIT LAKES, MINNESOTA (trfnews.i234.me)—Minnesota State Senator Nicole Mitchell is now facing an additional charge in connection with the alleged burglary of her stepmother’s home in Detroit Lakes.

According to the criminal complaint, Mitchell has been charged with possession of burglary or theft tools after officers discovered a blue crowbar at the scene. Investigators also found faint pry marks on an egress window where the crowbar was located.

The case dates back to April, when Mitchell was accused of attempting to retrieve belongings of her deceased father from the residence. She has maintained that her intentions were not criminal.

Mitchell’s trial is scheduled to begin on June 16, where she will face both the original burglary charge and the newly added possession of burglary tools charge.
