Minnesota Revenue Warns of Scam Texts

Minnesota ( trfnews.i234.me ) – The Minnesota Department of Revenue has issued a scam alert after reports of fraudulent text messages being sent to residents. Officials say the texts claim to be from the Department of Revenue and ask recipients to update their banking information.

According to the alert, the messages state that a “refund request has been processed and approved,” and then direct recipients to provide banking details through a link. The text further warns that failing to provide the information by September 16, 2025, will result in the “permanent forfeiture” of the refund under a false statute reference.

Officials stress that these messages are scams and should be ignored. The Department of Revenue does not send unsolicited texts asking for personal or financial information. Clicking the link or responding may expose recipients to identity theft or financial fraud.

Residents are advised not to reply, click any links, or call any numbers listed in the scam messages. Instead, those with questions should contact the Minnesota Department of Revenue directly by using the official contact information found on their official website. Authorities remind the public to be cautious with any unexpected digital communications, no matter how official they appear.
