ST. CROIX CO., WI (trfnews.i234.me) – Nicolae Miu, who was found guilty in April of stabbing several people, including one fatally, on the Apple River in St. Croix County, Wisconsin, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison. The 54-year-old Miu of Prior Lake faced up to 97 years in prison after being charged and convicted of first-degree reckless homicide in the killing of 17-year-old Isaac Schuman of Stillwater.
Miu was also convicted on four counts of recklessly endangering safety and one count of battery. The incident, which occurred on July 30, 2022, was captured on video. The footage showed Miu claiming to be searching for a lost cellphone as he approached a group of young tubers. The group began yelling at Miu and accusing him of “looking for little girls,” before the confrontation escalated into the stabbing.
In court, Miu read a statement before his sentencing, expressing his remorse: “I would like to start by letting you know how deeply sorry I have been, I am and I will always be for the real fact that Isaac is not with you anymore.”
Miu’s attorneys argued that he acted in self-defense, but the court found him guilty. Miu will be eligible for release under supervision after his prison term.
