Becker County, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – Jamison Michael Nelson, 48, formerly of Detroit Lakes, was sentenced in Becker County District Court on three felony counts of possessing illegal materials on a computer. Three additional counts were dismissed under a plea agreement.
Court records indicate that on February 11, 2016, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received an automated report from Google Inc. regarding three flagged images uploaded to a Gmail account. Subpoenaed records traced the account to Nelson.
Law enforcement executed a search warrant at Nelson’s residence, uncovering a hidden hard drive containing four photos and two videos. The device, concealed in a coffee pot, was sent to the Child Victim Identification Program for analysis.
Following an arrest warrant issued in May 2017, Nelson waived extradition in August 2024 and was transported to Minnesota.
On October 11, Judge Gretchen Thilmony sentenced Nelson to concurrent terms of 15, 20, and 25 years, all stayed for five years. He was also fined $1,160, served 135 days in jail with credit for time served, and placed on five years of supervised probation.
Probation conditions prohibit internet use, restrict social activities involving adult content, mandate mental health and psychosexual evaluations, and include a predatory offender registration requirement.
