Minnesota Man Pleads Guilty to Role in Capitol Insurrection

WASHINGTON D.C. (trfnews.i234.me) – A man from southern Minnesota is set to be sentenced in October for his involvement in the January 6, 2021, insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. Prosecutors in Washington, D.C., announced that 35-year-old Paul Orta Jr. of Blue Earth pleaded guilty on Tuesday to a felony charge of civil disorder. According to the criminal complaint, Orta pushed several metal bike racks used as barricades and made physical contact with law enforcement officers. Under federal guidelines, Orta could face an 8 to 14-month prison sentence. He has also agreed to pay $2,000 in restitution for damage to the U.S. Capitol.
