Minnesota Cracks Down on Straw Purchases with Tough New Gun Law

ST. PAUL, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is expected to ceremoniously sign a new bill today that imposes stricter penalties for straw purchases of firearms. The legislation upgrades the offense from a gross misdemeanor to a felony. A straw purchase occurs when an individual buys a firearm for someone who is legally prohibited from owning one. The bill passed the state Senate early last month, and Governor Walz signed it into law late last month.
