MINNEAPOLIS, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – Minneapolis experienced a surge in violence over the weekend, with police investigating ten separate incidents, including three homicides. Police Chief Brian O’Hara reported that the violence resulted in two fatal shootings, a fatal stabbing, and seven non-fatal shootings. In response, O’Hara has requested and received additional support from the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to address the situation and increase police presence in affected areas.
O’Hara expressed gratitude for the swift assistance from law enforcement and community partners, emphasizing the goal of apprehending those responsible and preventing further violence. He noted that none of the incidents appear to be related. The Minneapolis Police Department has also engaged with community groups and violence interrupters to help maintain peace.
An emergency meeting was held with various agencies, including the FBI and the U.S. Attorney’s Office, to coordinate efforts. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the names of the deceased and the cause of death. The public is encouraged to report any information to Crime Stoppers, with the possibility of a reward for tips leading to arrests.
